Military Golf Skills Courses at Catterick Golf Club

For the past 5 years, Head Coach Alex James has been providing 5 Day Golf Skills Courses to members of the Armed Forces. These courses are highly popular and now attract groups from all over the country. They can be run for groups of 5-15 people with the content tailored to match the skill and experience levels of the participants.

“I have just returned from a week at Catterick Golf Club on a Golf Skills Course organised by my unit, which I must say was a fantastic experience. The mornings consisted of golf tuition from the PGA Professional, Alex James and 18 holes were enjoyed every afternoon.

There were numerous levels of golfing ability within our group but Alex adapted his teaching to our needs and every single person felt as if we were getting ‘one to one tuition’. All of the various aspects of golf were covered; grip, alignment, stance, chipping, pitching, putting, driving and course management to say a few, and once we were let loose on the course we tried to put everything we were taught in to practice!

The course itself is extremely challenging; long with undulating fairways and difficult greens, so ensure lots of balls are in your bag.

The clubhouse restaurant is open for tea/coffee in the morning and it serves the most fantastic lunches. It is also open when the round is finished to serve refreshments to help revive tired and hungry golfers.

All in all, a fantastic week was had by all and I would urge all who can spare the time, to take on the challenge of this course.”
